JOORIS JOINS THE STANLEY CUP CHAMPIONS

The Pittsburgh Penguins acquired forward Josh Jooris from the Carolina Hurricanes for forward Greg McKegg.

What does it give the Pittsburgh Penguins
The Penguins were in the market for another bottom-six forward capable of winning face-offs (they had a preference for a right-handed shooter, too). Jooris fits the bill and has the speed that Pittsburgh head coach Mike Sullivan likes. He adds important depth for the team's playoff push as they attempt to three-peat in '17-18.

What does it give the Carolina Hurricanes
The Hurricanes were expected to do something more significant before the trade deadline this year, but instead opted for a minor deal involving two depth forwards. That said, McKegg (who played well as Pittsburgh's fourth-line center earlier this season) might wind up in the same role for Carolina down the stretch.

Fantasy impact
Neither Jooris nor McKegg will have a lot more fantasy value with their new teams, though both should be better in their new uniforms. Both are risky fantasy choices, though.
