BLUE JACKETS, BLACKHAWKS SWAP JOURNEYMEN
The Columbus Blue Jackets acquired goaltender Jean-Francois Berube from the Chicago Blackhawks for forward Jordan Schroeder.
What does it give the Columbus Blue Jackets
In Berube, Columbus adds organizational depth in goal behind No. 1 man Sergei Bobrovsky. Berube may compete with Joonas Korpisalo and rookie Matiss Kivlenieks for backup duty with the Blue Jackets. Berube is more likely to spend most of 2018-19 in the AHL again.
What does it give the Chicago Blackhawks
The Blackhawks will probably use Schroeder as a depth forward, much in the same manner as Columbus, Minnesota and Vancouver in his three previous NHL stops. Dumping Berube likely means Chicago will almost surely add a free agent 'tender to back up Corey Crawford.
Fantasy impact
There is no fantasy impact here, as neither Berube nor Schroeder will likely play enough minutes in the NHL next season to make a difference.
