BLUES BRING IN GOALTENDER COREAU
The St. Louis Blues acquired goaltender Jared Coreau from the Anaheim Ducks for future considerations.
What does it give the St. Louis Blues
The Blues are currently in search of a backup netminder, as starter Jake Allen has now appeared in 13 straight games. Ironically, Allen's former backup Chad Johnson is now in Anaheim (replacing the injured Ryan Miller as John Gibson's No. 2). Look for Coreau to report to San Diego (AHL) but the 27-year-old puck-stopper could be NHL-bound fairly soon.
What does it give the Anaheim Ducks
After the Ducks claimed Johnson off waivers to replace the injured Miller, Coreau became somewhat expendable within the Anaheim organization. Therefore, GM Bob Murray decided to ship Coreau to St. Louis for future considerations. It is likely that the return here is minimal (this looks like a case where one team is helping out another).
Fantasy impact
There is no fantasy impact here, as Allen and Gibson will continue to play most of the time for the Blues and Ducks, respectively.
