STAUBITZ TO MINNESOTA

The Minnesota Wild acquired winger Brad Staubitz from the San Jose Sharks for a fifth-round draft pick in 2010.

What does it give the Minnesota Wild
The Wild will likely use Staubitz as their main enforcer in 2010-11, since both Derek Boogaard and John Scott are unrestricted free agents this summer. Minnesota likes to have one pugilist in their lineup, usually, so Staubitz may see more action in his new home.

What does it give the San Jose Sharks
The Sharks have Frazer McLaren waiting in the wings at the AHL level, so this move opens up the enforcer role in San Jose for him, plus adds a fifth rounder. This is a solid move for the Sharks, as Staubitz barely played in the second half of 2009-10.
