DAHLEN FOR KARLSSON

The San Jose Sharks acquired winger Jonathan Dahlen from the Vancouver Canucks for forward Linus Karlsson.

What does it give the San Jose Sharks
In a rare prospect-for-prospect trade at the deadline, the Sharks get a player with plenty of untapped offensive upside in Dahlen. He has been very inconsistent so far in the pro game, but there is a lot to like about his scoring ability.

What does it give the Vancouver Canucks
In Karlsson, the Canucks land more of a center than winger (unlike Dahlen). Karlsson is currently toiling in Sweden's Allsvenskan (second division), so he should be a few years away from becoming a factor in North America.

Fantasy impact
Dahlen was already on the fantasy keeper radar, so the move to San Jose could make him an even more attractive commodity. Karlsson is not quite there yet but could also become a future keeper asset. Take a wait-and-see approach with him.
