'CANES LAND JUSSI JOKINEN
The Carolina Hurricanes acquired forward Jussi Jokinen from the Tampa Bay Lightning for winger Wade Brookbank, defenseman Josef Melichar and a fourth-round draft pick in 2009.
What does it give the Carolina Hurricanes
Jokinen adds more versatility to the 'Canes lineup. He will probably play center until Rod Brind'Amour returns to the lineup, and then settle in at left wing. He has lost his confidence but is the type of reclamation project Carolina is notorious for.
What does it give the Tampa Bay Lightning
The fourth-round draft pick is the most appealing element of this deal from a Lightning perspective. Brookbank isn't really needed with David Koci already on the roster, while Melichar is merely depth. That said, the Bolts did well to add a draft pick for a player they clearly didn't want anymore.
