The Calgary Flames acquired defenseman Derek Forbort from the Los Angeles Kings for a conditional fourth-round draft pick in 2021.

In Forbort, the Flames add a big, defensive defenseman who is scheduled for unrestricted free agency on July 1. He adds defensive depth to a Calgary team that is currently without captain Mark Giordano and steady Travis Hamonic due to injury.
What does it give the Los Angeles Kings
The Kings decided to part ways with Forbort, who spent parts of the past five seasons in LA. Injured a lot this season, he never really got going. So, GM Rob Blake receives a fourth in exchange for his services. This is a solid trade from a Kings perspective.
