RAMO FOR DESJARDINS
The Montreal Canadiens acquired goaltender Karri Ramo from the Tampa Bay Lightning for goaltender Cedrick Desjardins.
What does it give the Montreal Canadiens
Ramo is under contract to remain in the KHL this coming season, but the 24-year-old Finn still has some NHL upside. The Habs will likely bring him back to North America in 2011-12 with the hope he can become the backup to Carey Price.
What does it give the Tampa Bay Lightning
Desjardins adds more goalie depth for the Lightning in the short term, since Ramo was content playing overseas for one more season. Look for Desjardins to team with Dustin Tokarski in the AHL in 2010-11, with Jaroslav Janus toiling in the ECHL to begin the year.
