LASHOFF HEADS TO TORONTO
The Toronto Maple Leafs acquired defenseman Matt Lashoff from the Tampa Bay Lightning for wingers Alex Berry and Stefano Giliati.
What does it give the Toronto Maple Leafs
Lashoff has yet to fulfill his potential in the pro game, either with Boston or Tampa Bay, but he is still young enough to get there eventually. He is likely bound for AHL Toronto to begin 2010-11, but could find his way to the Maple Leafs if injuries mount.
What does it give the Tampa Bay Lightning
The Lightning had no room for Lashoff, so they got back a couple of decent AHL wingers in return. Neither Berry nor Giliati has much NHL upside, but they will provide some depth. The Bolts save a little money with this deal, as well.
