DUCKS GET CAPUTI FOR DESCHAMPS
The Anaheim Ducks acquired winger Luca Caputi from the Toronto Maple Leafs for forward Nicolas Deschamps.
What does it give the Anaheim Ducks
Caputi has a little NHL experience but has yet to put it all together at the highest level. He has a nose for the net but doesn't have ideal NHL skating ability. Still, he's only 23 and has a chance to earn a job on a Ducks team that's on the verge of a massive rebuilding stage.
What does it give the Toronto Maple Leafs
Deschamps is younger than Caputi but hasn't done much at the AHL level. Furthermore, he has no NHL experience. Still, he is a player Maple Leafs GM Brian Burke (formerly the GM of the Ducks) is familiar with, so perhaps Deschamps will get a better shot with the Leafs.
Fantasy impact
This deal won't have a lot of fantasy impact at the National Hockey League level, as both Caputi and Deschamps are likely to spend the majority of the time in the AHL (just like before).
