The Columbus Blue Jackets acquired center Gregory Hofmann from the Carolina Hurricanes for a seventh-round draft pick in 2022.

What does it give the Columbus Blue Jackets
The 28-year-old Hofmann has been playing in Switzerland for his entire pro career, but he has always been on the NHL radar. It remains to be seen whether Columbus GM Jarmo Kekalainen can convince Hofmann to play in North America.

What does it give the Carolina Hurricanes
The Hurricanes finally gave up on the idea that Hofmann had a future in Raleigh, so they did well to land a last-round draft pick in 2022 for his services. Originally drafted by Carolina in 2011 (No. 103 overall), Hofmann never played for the 'Canes.

Fantasy impact
First, Hofmann must decide to come over to North America. Then, he must crack the Blue Jackets roster. Then, he needs to produce enough to be a viable fantasy option. For now, he can be ignored.
