KLEE TO JERSEY

The New Jersey Devils acquired defenseman Ken Klee from the Toronto Maple Leafs for winger Aleksander Suglobov.

What does it give the New Jersey Devils
This is a move for defensive depth. Klee is expected to play on the third defense pairing with either young David Hale or grizzled veteran Tommy Albelin. Suglobov was deemed expendable, despite good numbers with the AHL's Albany River Rats.

What does it give the Toronto Maple Leafs
Suglobov is a solid scoring prospect that should get a shot at earning regular playing time with the Maple Leafs next season. In swapping veteran Klee, Toronto GM John Ferguson Jr. received a solid return. Essentially, he acquired Suglobov for a fifth rounder, since he dealt that pick earlier for Luke Richardson--a defensive defenseman similar to Klee.
