What does it give the Minnesota Wild
Earl has the speed the Wild love, but he has yet to put it all together. He should get a boost playing a more systematic game under the Wild umbrella. Earl is a low-risk/high-reward acquisition for Minny.
What does it give the Toronto Maple Leafs
GM Brian Burke loves toughness, so this is his second move in that direction--after adding Brad May from Anaheim. Hamilton has a chance to land at least a part-time enforcer role with the Maple Leafs next season. Burke sacrificed some upside in dealing Earl for an organizational need: Toughness.
