TLUSTY FOR PARADIS
The Carolina Hurricanes acquired forward Jiri Tlusty from the Toronto Maple Leafs for center Philippe Paradis.
What does it give the Carolina Hurricanes
The Hurricanes are looking for a spark, so Tlusty could get a shot with the big club relatively soon. He's much closer to the NHL than Paradis, which was a big factor in GM Jim Rutherford's decision to make this deal at this time.
What does it give the Toronto Maple Leafs
Paradis is a big, strapping center with two-way upside. Therefore, he fits better in the mould of what GM Brian Burke is building in Toronto. So, this move makes sense from a Leafs perspective, especially in light of the Phil Kessel trade.
