SCHULTZ FOR SHARROW
The Atlanta Thrashers acquired winger Jesse Schultz from the Vancouver Canucks for defenseman Jim Sharrow.
What does it give the Atlanta Thrashers
A 24-year-old hardworking winger who originally went un-drafted, but has
been a bit of a late-bloomer offensively. He took a step backwards this past year, tallying only 39 points in 67 games (and went pointless in seven postseason games) for Manitoba of the AHL. At this point, he is merely a reserve forward in the NHL.
What does it give the Vancouver Canucks
A 22-year-old former fourth-round pick (110th overall in 2003) who has proven to be quite capable as a two-way rearguard. He also possesses some offensive upside. Sharrow might get a look in training camp, but will likely play for Manitoba (AHL). He needs to get stronger in order to play regularly in the National Hockey League.
