O'BRIEN TO NASHVILLE; PARENT TO VANCOUVER

The Nashville Predators acquired defenseman Shane O'Brien and winger Dan Gendur from the Vancouver Canucks for defenseman Ryan Parent and winger Jonas Andersson.

What does it give the Nashville Predators
O'Brien adds a lot of toughness to the Preds blue-line, but the team must find a way to keep him under control (on and off the ice). He's a solid depth acquisition for Nashville. Gendur is strictly AHL material.

What does it give the Vancouver Canucks
The Canucks will likely send both Parent and Andersson to Manitoba (AHL), but both could be decent depth options for the club later in the season. Since O'Brien was expensive, the Canucks save money here.
