The Carolina Hurricanes acquired enforcer Stephen Peat from the Washington Capitals for winger Colin Forbes.
What does it give the Carolina Hurricanes
The 'Canes will use Peat as a backup enforcer to Jesse Boulerice. Essentially, Peat replaces Joey Tetarenko, who signed with the Minnesota Wild as a free agent post-lockout.
What does it give the Washington Capitals
This is Forbes' second tour of duty with the Caps organization. He'll move from the AHL's Lowell Lock Monsters to the Hershey Bears, but is mainly a depth player. In fact, he's unlikely to see a lot of ice time at the NHL level this time around.
