FRIESEN JOINS DUCKS AGAIN

The Mighty Ducks of Anaheim acquired forward Jeff Friesen from the Washington Capitals for a second-round draft pick in 2006.

What does it give the Anaheim Ducks
The Ducks hope Friesen can rediscover past form in a place he has toiled before. He's had a brutal 2005-06 campaign in Washington, largely due to injuries, and has spent a lot of time on the fourth line. In Anaheim, he'll be asked to provide a little offense to a left-wing corps bereft of natural scoring options.

What does it give the Washington Capitals
The Capitals get outstanding value for a player who was on the way out of D.C. almost as early as he arrived. Friesen is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent this summer, and was not in the team's plans beyond this season. He was essentially acquired when it was learned Russian prospect Alexander Semin was staying overseas before the season began.
