ZEDNIK TO ISLANDERS
The New York Islanders acquired winger Richard Zednik from the Washington Capitals for a second-round draft pick in 2007.
What does it give the New York Islanders
A third-line winger who, at times, has teased with first-line talent. But that's in the past. Ted Nolan is a tough coach to work for, so Zednik will need to make a consistent impression with a solid work ethic. If healthy, and if his heart is in it, Zednik has 30-goal ability. But that will most likely not happen in the foreseeable future. In fact, he's potted 30 only once in his career, back in 2002-03. Even if it's like comparing apples and oranges, the acquisition of a scoring winger may be setting the table for a Jason Blake trade.
What does it give the Washington Capitals
A good pick and pretty decent return for an underachieving player, who
could walk in the summer for nothing.
