SENATORS, CAPITALS SWAP DEPTH
The Ottawa Senators acquired defenseman Lawrence Nycholat from the Washington Capitals for defenseman Andy Hedlund and a sixth-round draft pick in 2007.
What does it give the Ottawa Senators
Nycholat is a poor man's Joe Corvo. Offensively talented, Nycholat, at
times, has a tendency to be weak defensively. The team picked him up
primarily to add depth to the roster. If an injury to one of the big club's
offensive rearguards occurs, everyone will move up one run in the
ladder and Nycholat may get into the lineup.
What does it give the Washington Capitals
Hedlund is a career minor leaguer who will shore up Hershey's blueline
in the AHL. The sixth-round pick is also decent.
