DUCKS ADD SUTHERBY

The Anaheim Ducks acquired center Brian Sutherby from the Washington Capitals for a second-round draft pick in 2009.

What does it give the Anaheim Ducks
A checking line center who plays with a bit of an edge. Despite his youth (25), he brings a lot of NHL experience, as he is in his sixth NHL season. He had strong offensive numbers in junior hockey so he has the ability to chip in some offense from the third or fourth line.

What does it give the Washington Capitals
Sutherby wasn't a big part of Washington's plans as he had been a frequent healthy scratch this season. Basically, he lost his job to rookie face-off specialist David Steckel. Therefore, a second-round pick is solid return for an unused asset.
