FLYERS GET EMINGER

The Philadelphia Flyers acquired defenseman Steve Eminger and a third-round draft pick in 2008 (84th overall)from the Washington Capitals for a first-round draft pick in 2008 (27th overall) .

What does it give the Philadelphia Flyers
The Flyers added another potential blueliner for 2008-09 with the addition of Eminger, who should compete for a regular spot in the lineup in 2008-09. Since the Flyers acquired a first rounder in the R.J. Umberger deal, they were afforded the luxury to deal away their second first pick to add Eminger plus a third rounder in this year's draft.

What does it give the Washington Capitals
Eminger fell out of favor with the Caps, and there wasn't room for him along the blueline anymore. So, they traded him and a third in order to land a second pick in Round 1: John Carlson. This is a good deal for the Caps, who get a player with upside similar to Eminger, but also deal away an unhappy player in the process.
