SUCHY TO COLUMBUS
The Columbus Blue Jackets acquired defenseman Radoslav Suchy and a sixth-round draft pick in 2005 from the Phoenix Coyotes for a fourth-round draft pick in 2005.
What does it give the Columbus Blue Jackets
Suchy adds badly needed defensive depth to the Jackets blueline. He will help limit critical mistakes in the defensive zone, and should act as another calming presence for coach Gerard Gallant. He's well worth a drop of two rounds, especially because of the expected depth in next year's draft crop.
What does it give the Phoenix Coyotes
After signing veteran Sean O'Donnell to a free-agent contract, Suchy became redundant in the Desert. Therefore, they move up two spots in the 2005 for a blueliner that had probably lost his regular spot in the lineup. However, the Coyotes could have received more for a quality stay-at-home blueliner.
