FERENCE TO NEW JERSEY

The New Jersey Devils acquired defenseman Brad Ference from the Phoenix Coyotes for forward Pascal Rheaume, defenseman Ray Schultz and defenseman Steven Spencer.

What does it give the New Jersey Devils
Ference adds NHL depth to a roster already loaded with big blueliners. Therefore, Ference will continue to bide his time in the minor leagues--now with the AHL's Albany River Rats.

What does it give the Phoenix Coyotes
Rheaume, Spencer and Schultz will upgrade the AHL's San Antonio Rampage but will have minimal impact on the Coyotes. This was basically a deal to stockpile the farm club.
