O'DONNELL FOR PERRAULT

The Mighty Ducks of Anaheim acquired defenseman Sean O'Donnell from the Phoenix Coyotes for center Joel Perrault.

What does it give the Anaheim Ducks
O'Donnell was one of the few players with a positive plus-minus in Phoenix and is a nice addition to the Anaheim blue line. As a stalwart veteran defensive defenseman he'll solidify the Ducks' already strong defensive game. Though he won't score, he certainly won't hurt their chances of catching up to the pack for a playoff spot. There's also one more season left on O'Donnell's three-year contract, so he'll be in Anaheim next year as well.

What does it give the Phoenix Coyotes
Eleven points out of the playoff race, the Coyotes are in selling mode. But for the veteran O'Donnell, the Coyotes received a decent kid in Perrault. He's a finesse player with a bit of a scoring touch, able to play any forward position, but doesn't necessarily project as a long-term NHLer.
