COMRIE TO OTTAWA

The Ottawa Senators acquired center Mike Comrie from the Phoenix Coyotes for center Alexei Kaigorodov.

What does it give the Ottawa Senators
With both Jason Spezza and Mike Fisher currently sidelined due to injury, the Senators needed help at the center position. Enter Comrie, who should provide a short-term boost. A potential unrestricted free agent next summer, Comrie will likely play elsewhere next season.

What does it give the Phoenix Coyotes
Kaigorodov bolted for Russia after seeing little ice time with Ottawa earlier in the season, but he may turn out to be better than Comrie over time. He becomes the second disgruntled Russian in the Coyotes system, since Kaigorodov's situation is similar to that of Enver Lisin, who also bolted for Russian after an early stint in the NHL. With Steve Reinprecht back in action, there was little room for Comrie in Phoenix.
