PENS ADD RUGGED LARAQUE

The Pittsburgh Penguins acquired right winger Georges Laraque from the Phoenix Coyotes for left winger Daniel Carcillo and a third-round draft pick in 2008.

What does it give the Pittsburgh Penguins
Laraque had been rumored to be headed to the Penguins for a while now. He is the undisputed heavyweight champion of the NHL, and should give the young Pens a lot of room on the ice. He is enjoying a good season on offense, and is more than a fourth-line player these days. He sat out for most of the Stanley Cup playoffs in Edmonton last season, but should be a regular with Pittsburgh.

What does it give the Phoenix Coyotes
Carcillo is an agitator with some upside. He could be a candidate to crack the Coyotes lineup next season, though he does need to become more disciplined. Obviously, Phoenix loses a lot of toughness, but Carcillo is accomplished in the fisticuffs department as well. Don't expect the draft pick to be much.
