REINPRECHT FOR MEYER
The Florida Panthers acquired forward Steven Reinprecht from the Phoenix Coyotes for winger Stefan Meyer.
What does it give the Florida Panthers
The Panthers immediately agreed to terms with Reinprecht--a potential UFA--on a three-year contract upon completion of the trade. He's a versatile forward that will likely play center for the Panthers. He should see an increase in both ice time and points in South Florida.
What does it give the Phoenix Coyotes
The Coyotes weren't going to re-sign Reinprecht, so they did well to land a lower-tier prospect in Meyer--who has seen a little time in the NHL but is still trying to find his niche in the pro ranks. He'll go to training camp in Phoenix with an eye towards a roster spot with the big club.
