OILERS ADD VANDERMEER
The Edmonton Oilers acquired defenseman Jim Vandermeer from the Phoenix Coyotes for winger Patrick O'Sullivan.
What does it give the Edmonton Oilers
The Oilers will need some toughness for their youth in 2010-11, so Vandermeer should be a solid addition. He's a bit expensive for what he brings to the table, but the rebuilding Oilers have the cap space for this move.
What does it give the Phoenix Coyotes
The Coyotes rid themselves of Vandermeer, and are now going to buy O'Sullivan out--saving them a little more money in the process. They were going to buy Vandermeer out, but it costs less to buy O'Sullivan out. Every penny counts in Phoenix now.
