WALKER FOR VASICEK
The Carolina Hurricanes acquired right wing Scott Walker from the Nashville Predators for forward Josef Vasicek.
What does it give the Carolina Hurricanes
In Walker, the Hurricanes have added an ample replacement for free agent Mark Recchi. He's a good leader with sound two-way ability. Look for Walker to provide plenty of offense from the third line in 2006-07. He'll also see time on special teams.
What does it give the Nashville Predators
The Preds add an intriguing figure in Vasicek, who can play both center and left wing. He's probably needed more at the pivot position in Nashville, though he hasn't played much center in recent years. He could blossom as a Predator, but must first shake the injury bug.
