SANFORD SENT TO THE SENS

The Ottawa Senators acquired forward Zach Sanford from the St. Louis Blues for center Logan Brown and a conditional fourth-round draft pick in 2022.

What does it give the Ottawa Senators
In Sanford, the Senators add another big power forward type, one who can play all three forward positions. He should play more minutes in Ottawa than what was the case with the Blues. Sanford may even replace RFA Brady Tkachuk in the interim.

What does it give the St. Louis Blues
The Blues save some money with this deal, and also add a solid center prospect in St. Louis native Brown, whose father Jeff played for the Blues. Brown must play 30 regular-season games in 2021-22 for Ottawa to get the conditional pick.

Fantasy impact
Sanford is a borderline fantasy prospect whose stock could improve in Ottawa. He is a super-sleeper going into '21-22. As for Brown, he has some keeper appeal but should not be drafted in yearly leagues this season. His fantasy fortunes remain questionable.
