ZIDLICKY TO MINNY

The Minnesota Wild acquired defenseman Marek Zidlicky from the Nashville Predators for winger Ryan Jones and a second-round draft pick in 2009.

What does it give the Minnesota Wild
The Wild add an important offensive dimension in adding blueliner Zidlicky, who should team with Brent Burns to form a lethal combination on the power play points. He essentially is an upgrade over Kurtis Foster, who probably won't be ready for the start of 2008-09 due to recovery from a broken leg.

What does it give the Nashville Predators
The Predators have a wealth of offensive defensemen, so they could afford to part with Zidlicky at this time. Look for Shea Weber, Dan Hamhuis and Ryan Suter to get more power-play minutes, and Ville Koistinen as well as Kevin Klein to figure more prominently in the Nashville lineup. Jones is a nice addition to the team's prospect pool, while the second rounder is another solid asset for the future. This is a good deal for Nashville.
