HULSE FOR SEVERSON

The Calgary Flames acquired defenseman Cale Hulse from the Columbus Blue Jackets for winger Cam Severson.

What does it give the Calgary Flames
Hulse, an Edmonton native, will head back to Calgary for a second tour of duty. He'll provide insurance along the Flames blueline, but may not see a lot of action if everybody is healthy. Essentially, Hulse was acquired because of knee issues with both Roman Hamrlik and Bryan Marchment.

What does it give the Columbus Blue Jackets
Severson will essentially continue to toil in the AHL this season, but will switch from Omaha to Syracuse. The Jackets basically dumped Hulse's salary and will give Ron Hainsey a chance to emerge as a legitimate top-six defender in C-Bus.
