DUCK-JACKETS SWAP FOUR
The Anaheim Ducks acquired winger Joe Motzko, center Mark Hartigan and a fourth-round draft pick in 2007 from the Columbus Blue Jackets for center Zenon Konopka, winger Curtis Glencross and a conditional seventh-round draft pick in either 2007 or 20
What does it give the Anaheim Ducks
This was essentially a swap of four AHLers, though both all four players have seen action in the NHL. Motzko, as well as the fourth rounder, are the keys to the deal from an Anaheim perspective. Motzko has scoring potential but, so far, has not displayed much of it at the highest level. Hartigan provides depth, though he's less likely to return to the NHL.
What does it give the Columbus Blue Jackets
The Jackets get the greater upside in this trade, as both Konopka and Glencross have NHL potential. They both fit the new style that head coach Ken Hitchcock is implementing better than Motzko and Hartigan. That said, neither will make an impact in Columbus if/when they get there. This deal is a draw.
