McQUAID TO BOSTON
The Boston Bruins acquired defenseman Adam McQuaid from the Columbus Blue Jackets for a fifth-round draft pick in 2007.
What does it give the Boston Bruins
The Bruins liked McQuaid so much that they gave in to his contractual demands upon completion of the deal. He'll add more depth along the Bruins blueline down the road. Boston got good value for their troubles, since McQuaid was the 55th overall selection in 2005.
What does it give the Columbus Blue Jackets
The Blue Jackets took what they could get for McQuaid, after failing to come to terms prior to the June 1 deadline for signing 2005 CHL draftees. In the club's defense, McQuaid had not developed as hoped. Still, he could come back to bite the Jackets franchise.
