CHIMERA FOR CLARK, JURCINA

The Washington Capitals acquired winger Jason Chimera from the Columbus Blue Jackets for winger Chris Clark and defenseman Milan Jurcina.

What does it give the Washington Capitals
In Chimera, the Capitals add a true speedster who excels on the forecheck and in defensive situations. He'll probably become a key member of the Caps' penalty-killing unit and play a bottom-six role. This move also clears a little cap space for Washington, which is key.

What does it give the Columbus Blue Jackets
Clark adds much-needed leadership to the Blue Jackets cause, while Jurcina brings another right-shooting blue-liner to the mix. Columbus takes on some salary in this transaction, but desperate times call for desperate measures. Clark could make an impact off the ice.
