KINGS ADD MODIN
The Los Angeles Kings acquired winger Fredrik Modin from the Columbus Blue Jackets for a conditional seventh-round draft pick in 2010.
What does it give the Los Angeles Kings
Modin is a serviceable veteran with a winning pedigree, which is exactly what the Kings were looking for. He is somewhat fragile, so it remains to be seen how much he'll be able to help L.A. down the stretch. They didn't give up much, though, so kudos to GM Dean Lombardi for adding Modin for depth at the deadline.
What does it give the Columbus Blue Jackets
Modin's fragility was reason enough to move him at the deadline. Since Columbus was in sell mode all day, it's an even better idea to make this move at this time. Don't expect the Jackets to get much in return from the Kings in this one, but this move also creates a roster spot for a younger player to step into.
