HABS ACQUIRE BLUNDEN FOR RUSSELL

The Montreal Canadiens acquired forward Michael Blunden from the Columbus Blue Jackets for forward Ryan Russell.

What does it give the Montreal Canadiens
Blunden is an AHL/NHL 'tweener. He has played a fourth-line role in the big league before, so he has a chance to stick as a role player/13th forward in 2011-12.

What does it give the Columbus Blue Jackets
Russell is the twin brother of Jackets defenseman Kris Russell, so this is a nice reunion for the Russell family. Ryan will continue to toil in the AHL, however, and is merely for depth.
