PENGUINS PICK UP A. NYLANDER

The Pittsburgh Penguins acquired winger Alex Nylander from the Chicago Blackhawks for forward Sam Lafferty.

What does it give the Pittsburgh Penguins
Nylander, who has spent all of 2021-22 in the minors, has plenty of NHL experience and is still only 23 years old. The Penguins are an older squad, so Nylander looks like a good acquisition at this time.

What does it give the Chicago Blackhawks
For Chicago, this swap is more about landing an NHL-caliber forward who can play a variety of roles on a team. Lafferty can provide that, and he can play all three forward positions. He lacks Nylander's upside.

Fantasy impact
Nylander is worth picking up right now, even if he does not see any NHL action until next season. He needed a change of scenery and should be better off as a Penguin. Lafferty has limited offensive upside, so he does not need to be picked up in most leagues.
