HAMMOND HEADS TO MONTREAL
The Montreal Canadiens acquired goaltender Andrew Hammond from the Minnesota Wild for winger Brandon Baddock.
What does it give the Montreal Canadiens
The Canadiens are struggling at all positions this season, but especially in goal. With both Carey Price and Jake Allen currently injured, Hammond will likely take over as the short-term starter for Montreal. Both Sam Montembeault and Cayden Primeau have had their issues lately.
What does it give the Minnesota Wild
In Baddock, the Wild get a bruising winger who will likely remain in the minor leagues for the foreseeable future. He did see some time with Montreal earlier this season but is viewed mostly as a depth forward at the highest level. His physical style should work well with the Wild.
Fantasy impact
Hammond might be worth picking up in very deep leagues, though he will return to backup duties once either Price or Allen return to action. Baddock has no fantasy value to speak of.
