HAGEL HEADS TO TAMPA BAY
The Tampa Bay Lightning acquired winger Brandon Hagel, a fourth-round draft pick in 2022 and a fourth-round draft pick in 2024 from the Chicago Blackhawks for wingers Taylor Raddysh and Boris Katchouk, a conditional first-round draft pick in 2023 and a conditional first-round draft pick in 2024.
What does it give the Tampa Bay Lightning
In Hagel, the Lightning get a 23-year-old winger who is emerging this season as a quality scoring forward. The Bolts gave up a lot to acquire him but he is a young player with plenty of years ahead of him. Those types of players cost a lot to acquire. The Bolts felt that they needed a spark up front, which is what Hagel should provide them down the stretch.
What does it give the Chicago Blackhawks
For Chicago, this is a nice deal because they are getting four young assets for one and two mid-round draft picks. Both Raddysh and Katchouk are talented wingers who should get the opportunity to play more regularly in the Windy City. Both first-rounders acquired in this deal are top-10 protected, but both assets should greatly help Chicago down the road.
Fantasy impact
Hagel moves to the two-time defending champion Bolts, so his quality ice time may suffer (especially down the stretch). He should be kept in most fantasy leagues but keep an eye on his situation. Both Raddysh and Katchouk should do a lot better with more playing time in Chicago, so both wingers are worth picking up in many league formats.
