BOLTS PICK UP PAUL

The Tampa Bay Lightning acquired forward Nick Paul from the Ottawa Senators for forward Mathieu Joseph and a fourth-round draft pick in 2024.

What does it give the Tampa Bay Lightning
The Lightning get a little grittier with the arrival of Paul, a versatile forward who brings a lot of what Tampa Bay had with the Barclay Goodrow-Yanni Gourde-Blake Coleman line that helped the team earn back-to-back Stanley Cup titles. Paul can play any position up front and will probably be used on the fourth line.

What does it give the Ottawa Senators
Joseph is a great skater who excels on the penalty kill. He also has some untapped offensive upside and can play any forward position (like Paul). The Senators wanted to re-sign Paul but failed to come to terms. Therefore, Joseph is a pretty good consolation prize. The fourth-rounder in '24 is a bonus.

Fantasy impact
Paul's fantasy value may largely disappear moving from Ottawa to Tampa Bay, while the opposite could be true of Joseph (who was often underutilized with the powerhouse Lightning). Joseph could be worth a fantasy pickup down the stretch in many leagues.
