MELNICHUK FOR MORAND

The Tampa Bay Lightning acquired goaltender Alexei Melnichuk from the San Jose Sharks for forward Antoine Morand.

What does it give the Tampa Bay Lightning
This deal adds some goaltending depth to the two-time defending Cup champs. Melnichuk will continue to toil at the American Hockey League level.

What does it give the San Jose Sharks
The Sharks felt comfortable with their goaltending depth after acquiring Kaapo Kahkonen. So, they moved Melnichuk for Morand, a middling prospect.
