DeBRINCAT DEALT TO OTTAWA!
The Ottawa Senators acquired winger Alex DeBrincat from the Chicago Blackhawks for a first-round draft pick in 2022 (No. 7 overall), a second-round draft pick in 2022 (No. 39 overall) and a third-round draft pick in 2024.
What does it give the Ottawa Senators
Wow! DeBrincat is one of the best goal-scoring wingers in the NHL, so adding him to the young stable of Senators skaters is quite an interesting move by GM Pierre Dorion. He should bring a lot to the team and become one of the cornerstones of the franchise. He is signed for one more season and then will become a restricted free agent.
What does it give the Chicago Blackhawks
The Blackhawks seem to be stripping it down completely and starting over, so dealing a 24-year-old sniper does make a bit of sense from that perspective. That said, DeBrincat could have easily been a part of the rebuild as well. Landing three high draft picks should help speed up the rebuilding process, but losing DeBrincat will definitely hurt.
Fantasy impact
DeBrincat's fantasy value should remain fairly strong even after losing Patrick Kane as a teammate. That is because Tim Stutzle is a budding superstar and could form a deadly duo with DeBrincat if paired together.
