PACIORETTY PICKED UP BY CAROLINA

The Carolina Hurricanes acquired winger Max Pacioretty and defenseman Dylan Coghlan from the Vegas Golden Knights for future considerations.

What does it give the Carolina Hurricanes
The Hurricanes were trying to add a left-winger for the first two lines as a replacement for UFA Nino Neiderreiter. Enter Pacioretty, a veteran goal-scoring winger who should be a solid addition to a team with Stanley Cup aspirations. Coghlan is also a nice addition to Carolina, and could have a breakout campaign in 2022-23.

What does it give the Vegas Golden Knights
The Golden Knights continue to slash payroll in order to become salary cap compliant. This move should allow Vegas to re-sign the likes of defenseman Nicolas Hague and rugged forwards Nicolas Roy and Keegan Kolesar. Whether the Knights can overcome the loss of Pacioretty's goal-scoring prowess remains to be seen.

Fantasy impact
The move from Vegas to Carolina should not affect Pacioretty too badly. He will likely go from playing with Jack Eichel to lining up next to Sebastian Aho in Raleigh. Draft Pacioretty with confidence. Coghlan has loads of fantasy upside, so he too should be drafted in many deeper formats and keeper leagues.
