CAPITALS ADD CONNOR BROWN

The Washington Capitals acquired winger Connor Brown from the Ottawa Senators for a second-round draft pick in 2024.

What does it give the Washington Capitals
In a trade involving both nation's capitals, Washington added a solid winger in Brown. He is the type of forward good teams want because of his versatility and usefulness. He should be a solid addition for a Capitals club that is seeking to get back into Stanley Cup final contention.

What does it give the Ottawa Senators
The Senators made two huge forward additions this off-season in sniper Alex DeBrincat and local hero Claude Giroux. Somebody had to go, and it turned out to be Brown. The latter was a real glue guy for Ottawa but Giroux will probably take over most of the leadership duties on the Sens.

Fantasy impact
Brown's fantasy value was going to dip a bit in Ottawa anyway, since he would have played on the third line moving forward. That is likely to be his role in Washington, too. He is still worth drafting in deep leagues, but buyer beware.
