DICKINSON FOR STILLMAN

The Chicago Blackhawks acquired forward Jason Dickinson and a second-round draft pick in 2024 from the Vancouver Canucks for defenseman Riley Stillman.

What does it give the Chicago Blackhawks
For Chicago, this deal is all about pocketing yet another future asset (second-round draft pick). Chicago also had a surplus on defense and a need for more help up front, so swapping out Stillman for Dickinson makes sense at this time.

What does it give the Vancouver Canucks
For Vancouver, this deal is all about creating a little room on the salary cap, as Stillman's cap hit is nearly half of Dickinson's through 2023-24. Since the Canucks still need to get captain Bo Horvat signed beyond '23-24, this deal helps them in that regard.

Fantasy impact
There is little fantasy impact here, as Dickinson is mostly a defensive forward who should spend time on one of Chicago's bottom two lines this season. Stillman is mostly a defensive defender.
