STUDNICKA SENT TO VANCOUVER

The Vancouver Canucks acquired center Jack Studnicka from the Boston Bruins for goaltender Michael DiPietro and defenseman Jonathan Myrenberg.

What does it give the Vancouver Canucks
For the Canucks, Studnicka brings a right-handed shot to the bottom six forwards group. He has some untapped offensive upside and desperately needed a change of scenery. He should play regularly in Vancouver moving forward. Since the Canucks have yet to re-sign captain Bo Horvat to an extension, adding Studnicka can be viewed as a safety net.

What does it give the Boston Bruins
DiPietro requested a trade from Vancouver but may not have an easier time cracking Boston's roster going forward. He should begin at AHL Providence but may not see time in the NHL this season unless either Linus Ullmark or Jeremy Swayman get hurt. Myrenberg is a 19-year-old right-handed defenseman with a little bit of upside. He was a nice throw-in here.

Fantasy impact
All three players involved in this deal may benefit from this trade. However, all are not really fantasy factors in yearly leagues at this time. As for keeper formats, both Studnicka and DiPietro should have already been on the fantasy radar. Therefore, both could be picked up in deeper leagues.
