MINOR THREE TEAM SWAP

In a three-team trade, the Anaheim Ducks acquired defenseman Michael Del Zotto from the Florida Panthers; the Detroit Red Wings acquired forward Danny O'Regan from Anaheim; and the Panthers received winger Givani Smith from Detroit.

What does it give the Anaheim Ducks
In Del Zotto, the Ducks are getting a veteran defenseman whose NHL days are mainly behind him. He is AHL depth with the chance to play for Anaheim if injuries arise (or if they decide to trade other veteran D-men).

What does it give the Detroit Red Wings
For the Red Wings, O'Regan is a depth center currently playing in the AHL. He has one goal in 30 career NHL games but has not yet played in the NHL this season. Like Del Zotto for Anaheim, he is a depth acquisition for Detroit.

What does it give the
Smith is the most likely of the three players traded in this deal to see NHL ice time with his new team after playing in just two games with the Red Wings this season. He is a bottom six energy winger with very good size.

Fantasy impact
There is no fantasy impact with this trade. If any of the three players in this transaction see extensive time in the NHL, it will likely be in a depth role. This trade could lead to others for the Ducks, Wings and Panthers, though.
