The Vancouver Canucks acquired forward Tommi Santala and a fifth-round draft pick in 2007 from the Atlanta Thrashers for a conditional fourth-round draft pick in 2007.

What does it give the Vancouver Canucks
In Santala, the Canucks add a versatile forward with prior NHL experience. He is expected to play in Vancouver in 2006-07, albeit in a defensive role.

What does it give the Atlanta Thrashers
The Thrashers were not going to get Santala back from Europe, so at least they received a draft-pick upgrade.
